Camshaft Replacement: Front

- Do the battery removal procedure (see RECONNECTION ).
- Drain the engine coolant (see COOLANT CHECK ).
- Disconnect the radiator hoses (A).
- Remove the EGR valve (see EGR VALVE REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the EGR valve stud bolts (A).
- Remove the timing belt (see TIMING BELT REMOVAL ).
- Remove the front rocker arm assembly (see ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY REMOVAL ).
- Remove the front camshaft pulley (see step 15 under ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY REMOVAL ).
- Remove the thrust cover (A), then remove the camshaft (B).
- Install the front camshaft in the reverse order of removal. Always use a new O-ring (C). Apply new engine oil to the journals and the cam lobes.
- Apply new engine oil to the threads of the camshaft pulley mounting bolt, then install the front camshaft pulley (see step 14 under CAMSHAFT, ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY, CAMSHAFT SEAL, AND PULLEY INSTALLATION ).
- Install the front rocker arm assembly, then tighten the mounting bolts (see CAMSHAFT, ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY, CAMSHAFT SEAL, AND PULLEY INSTALLATION ).
- Install the timing belt (see TIMING BELT INSTALLATION ).
- Adjust the valve clearance (see VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT ).
- Install the EGR valve stud bolts, then install the EGR valve (see EGR VALVE REPLACEMENT ).
- Connect the radiator hoses.
- Do the battery installation procedure (see RECONNECTION ).
- Fill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed the air from the cooling system (see step 9 under COOLANT REPLACEMENT ).
- Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure (see HDS CLEAR COMMAND ).
