Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra, 2002 Infiniti G20, 2001 Nissan Sentra, and 2001 Infiniti G20. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Inspect voltage on PNP circuits at TCM harness connector while moving gear selector through each position. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . If circuits are okay, see DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE . If fault is found, go to next step.
  2. Inspect PNP switch. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as necessary. If PNP switch is okay, go to next step.
  3. Check harness and connectors for open or short to ground between ignition switch and PNP switch, and between PNP switch and TCM. If open or short is found, repair circuit(s) as necessary. If all circuits are okay, or after repairs, see DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE .
