Park/Neutral Position Switch

  1. Disconnect PNP switch connector. Using DVOM, check for continuity between specified terminals while moving selector lever through each position. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST  table. See Fig 1. If there is no continuity between specified terminals, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect shift control cable. Check for continuity between specified terminals while moving manual shaft lever through each gear position. If there is continuity at specified terminals, adjust shift control cable. See appropriate SERVICING article. If there is no continuity between specified terminals, go to next step.
  3. Remove PNP switch. Check for continuity between specified terminals while moving through each gear position. If there is continuity at specified terminals, adjust PNP switch. See appropriate SERVICING article. If there is no continuity between specified terminals, replace PNP switch.

"D" 3 & 6
"2" 3 & 5
