DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Check)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of PNP switch circuit. During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.
Malfunction is detected when PNP switch signal does not change between starting and driving. Possible causes are:
- PNP switch circuit open or shorted.
- Defective PNP switch.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use ECM ground terminals when measuring voltage.
To check overall function of PNP switch circuit, turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 43 (Green/Orange wire) by backprobing. See Figure and Figure . With transmission in Park (A/T only) or Neutral, about zero volts should exist. With transmission in any other gear, battery voltage should exist (A/T) or about 5 volts (M/T). If voltage is not as specified, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE (M/T) or DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE (A/T) .
