Inspection Procedure 4: The LDW is cancelled together with a visual warning temporarily: Diagnosis

  1. STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), diagnose the CAN bus line 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
    1. Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    3. Diagnose the CAN bus line.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

    Q: Is the CAN bus line found to be normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to DIAGNOSIS ). On completion, go to Step 2.
  2. STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the LDW diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check if DTC is stored in the LDW.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Troubleshoot the LDW-ECU. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
    2. NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the ASC or engine system diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check if DTC is stored in the ASC-ECU and engine control module.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    Set to the engine control module.:  Troubleshoot the engine (Refer to DTC CHART ).

    Set to the ASC-ECU.:  Troubleshoot the ASC. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .

    The DTC is not stored.:  Go to Step 4.

  4. STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check data list. 

    Check the LDW-ECU service data.

    • Vehicle stopped (the steering wheel is in the neutral position)
      Item No. Item name Normal condition
      Item 13 Steering angle -6 to 6 deg
    • Running
      Item No. Item name Normal condition
      Item 13 Steering angle Nearly the same as the steering wheel operation angle <-720 to 720 deg (LDW-ECU normal detection value) >

      OK: Normal condition is displayed. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 5.
    2. NO:  Replace the steering wheel sensor.
  5. STEP 5. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check data list. 

    Check the ETACS-ECU system data list.

    • Release the brake pedal.
      Item No. Item name Normal condition
      Item 290 Stoplight switch OFF

      OK: Normal condition is displayed. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 6.
    2. NO:  Troubleshoot the stop light. Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURE 2: THE STOPLIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE OR GO OUT NORMALLY .
  6. STEP 6. Retest the system 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
    2. NO:  Replace the LDW-ECU.
