DTC U0184: AUDIO CAN Time-out: Diagnosis

  1. STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), diagnose the CAN bus line 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
    1. Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III)
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    3. Diagnose the CAN bus line.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

    Q: Is the CAN bus line found to be normal? 

    • YES:  Go to Step 2.
    • NO:  Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to DIAGNOSIS ).
  2. STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the radio and CD player diagnostic trouble code 

    Check if DTC is stored to the radio and CD player.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    • YES:  Troubleshoot the radio and CD player. (Refer to DIAGNOSIS .)
    • NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the ETACS diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check if the DTC No. U0184 stored to the KOS-ECU, OSS-ECU, combination meter, ETACS-ECU or A/C-ECU

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    • YES:  Go to Step 4.
    • NO:  Go to  Step 5.
  4. STEP 4. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check again if the power liftgate control unit stores a diagnostic trouble code.

    1. Erase the DTC.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to "ON" position.
    3. On completion, check that the DTC is not stored again.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

  5. STEP 5. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check again if the DTC is stored in the power liftgate control unit.

    1. Erase the DTC.
    2. Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from OFF to ON.
    3. Check if DTC is stored.
    4. Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from ON to OFF.

    Q: Is the DTC stored?
