Code No. U0431: ETACS CAN Message: Diagnosis

  1. STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) CAN bus diagnostics. 

    Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to perform the CAN bus diagnosis.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to DIAGNOSIS ).
  2. STEP 2. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) DTC. 

    Check if DTC No. U1195 stored (Refer to CODE NO. U1195: CODING NOT COMPLETED  ).

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Perform the relevant troubleshooting.
    2. NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) other system DTC. 

    Check the ETACS DTC (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ).

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Perform the relevant troubleshooting.
    2. NO:  Go to Step 4.
  4. STEP 4. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) data list. 

    Check the ETACS data list below (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE ).

    • Item No.252: Ambient temperature sensor
    • Item No.254: IG voltage

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 5.
    2. NO:  Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then go to Step 5.
  5. STEP 5. Check whether the DTC is stored again. 

    Q: Is DTC No. U0431 stored? 

    1. YES:  Replace the AWD-ECU (Refer to AWD-ECU  ). Then go to Step 6.
    2. NO:  Intermittent malfunction. (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
  6. STEP 6. Check whether the DTC is stored again. 

    Q: Is DTC No. U0431 stored? 

    1. YES:  Return to  Step 1.
    2. NO:  This diagnosis is complete.
