Code No. C1616: Cranking Signal Stuck: Diagnosis

- STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) CAN bus diagnostics.
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to perform the CAN bus diagnosis.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- STEP 2. Check whether the DTC is stored again.
Q: Is DTC No. C1616 stored?
- YES: Go to Step 3.
- NO: This diagnosis is complete.
- STEP 3. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) other system DTC.
- Check the KOS DTC (Refer to TROUBLESHOOTING ) < Vehicles with KOS >.
- Check the ETACS DTC (Refer to TROUBLESHOOTING ).
Q: Is the DTC stored?
- YES: Perform the relevant troubleshooting.
- NO: Go to Step 4.
- STEP 4. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) data list.
Check the following data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE ).
- Item No.30: Ignition SW (CAN input)
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 8.
- NO: Go to Step 5.
- STEP 5. Ignition switch check
- Disconnect ignition switch connector, and check the continuity between the power supply and start signal at the ignition switch side.
- Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
OK: No continuity
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 6.
- NO: Replace the ignition switch. (Refer to IGNITION SWITCH ). Then go to Step 9.
- STEP 6. Check of short circuit in start signal line between ignition switch connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 7.
- NO: Repair the defective connector or the wiring harness. Then go to Step 9.
- STEP 7. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) data list.
Check the data list of the ETACS (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE ).
- Item No.287: Starter switch
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 8.
- NO: Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then go to Step 8.
- STEP 8. Check whether the DTC is stored again.
Q: Is DTC No. C1616 stored?
- YES: Replace the AWD-ECU (Refer to AWD-ECU ). Then go to Step 9.
- NO: Intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
- STEP 9. Check whether the DTC is stored again.
Q: Is DTC No. C1616 stored?
- YES: Return to Step 1.
- NO: This diagnosis is complete.
