INSPECTION PROCEDURE 3: The blower does not work: Diagnosis

- STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), diagnose the CAN bus line CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
- Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III)
- Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
- Diagnose the CAN bus line.
- Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Q: Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
- YES: Go to Step 2.
- NO: Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to DIAGNOSIS ).
- STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), DTC check.
Check that the diagnostic trouble code related to the air conditioning is not stored.
Q: Is the diagnostic trouble code stored?
- YES: Carry out the diagnostic trouble code procedures. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
- NO: Go to Step 3.
- STEP 3. Check the blower relay.
Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR RELAY CONTINUITY CHECK .
Q: Is the blower relay in good condition?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: Replace the blower relay.
- STEP 4. Check the blower motor.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 5.
- NO: Replace the blower motor.
- STEP 5. Voltage measurement at blower motor connector.
- Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Voltage between terminal 1 and body ground.
OK: System voltage
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 6.
- NO: INSPECTION PROCEDURE 10: Refer to "INSPECTION PROCEDURE 10: Blower motor power supply system " .
- STEP 6. Resistance measurement at the power transistor connector.
- Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Continuity between terminal 1 and body ground
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 7.
- NO: Repair the wiring harness wires between power transistor connector terminal and body ground.
- STEP 7. Check of open circuit in power transistor power supply line between blower motor and power transistor connector.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 8.
- NO: Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
- STEP 8. Check of open circuit in P/TB and P/TC line between blower motor, power transistor and heater controller assembly (A/C-ECU) connector.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 9.
- NO: Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
- STEP 9. Replace the power transistor and recheck the trouble symptom
Check that the blower motor operates normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: This diagnosis is complete.
- NO: Replace the heater controller assembly (A/C-ECU).
