DTC B2464: Meter Information SW sticking - High Contrast Meter: Diagnosis

Required Special Tools: 

  1. STEP 1. Meter information switch check 

    Check the meter information switch. Refer to METER INFORMATION SWITCH CHECK  .

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Replace the meter information switch.
  2. STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the meter information switch connector 
    1. Disconnect the meter information switch connector, the measure at the harness side.
    2. Measure the resistance between the meter information switch connector (ground terminal) and ground.

      Does the measured resistance value correspond with this range? 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to  Step 4.
    2. NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. Check of open circuit in ground line between meter information switch connector and ground. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 4.
    2. NO:  Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
  4. STEP 4. Check of short to power supply circuit in MODE line between combination meter connector and meter information switch connector. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 5.
    2. NO:  Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
  5. STEP 5. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check again if the DTC is stored in the combination meter.

    1. Erase the DTC.
    2. Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
    3. Check if DTC is stored.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Replace the combination meter.
    2. NO:  The diagnosis is complete.


  1. STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), diagnose the CAN bus line 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
    1. Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    3. Diagnose the CAN bus line.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

    Q: Is the CAN bus line found to be normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to DIAGNOSIS ).
  2. STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the ECM diagnostic trouble code 

    Check if DTC is stored in the ECM.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Troubleshoot the engine (Refer to DTC CHART < 2.4 L ENGINE >, GROUP 13B - DTC Chart P.13B-51 < 3.0 L ENGINE >)
    2. NO:  Go to Step 3
  3. STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the ETACS diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check if the DTC No. U0100 stored in ETACS-ECU.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 4
    2. NO:  Go to  Step 5
  4. STEP 4. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check again if the DTC is stored in the combination meter.

    1. Erase the DTC.
    2. Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
    3. Check if the DTC is stored.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Replace the ECM.
    2. NO:  A poor connection, open circuit, or other intermittent malfunction in the CAN bus line between the combination meter and the ECM. (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION .)
  5. STEP 5. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check again if the DTC is stored in the combination meter.

    1. Erase the DTC.
    2. Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
    3. Check if the DTC is stored.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Replace the combination meter.
    2. NO:  A poor connection, open circuit, or other intermittent malfunction in the CAN bus line between the combination meter and the ECM. (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION .)
