Diagnostic Procedure

  1. STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) CAN bus diagnostics. 

    Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to perform the CAN bus diagnosis.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus lines. (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE ).
  2. STEP 2. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) other system DTC. 

    Check the EPS-ECU DTC (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ).

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Perform the relevant troubleshooting.
    2. NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) DTC. 

    Check the DTC No. C1634 (Refer to DTC C1634: EPS TIMEOUT  ), C1635 (Refer to DTC C1635: EPS CONTROL PROHIBITED REQUEST  ).

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Perform the relevant troubleshooting.
    2. NO:  Go to Step 4.
  4. STEP 4. Check whether the DTC is stored again. 

    Q: Is DTC No. U1428 stored? 

    1. YES:  Replace the AWC-ECU (Refer to AWC-ECU < Vehicles with S-AWC >  ). Then go to Step 5.
    2. NO:  Intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
  5. STEP 5. Check whether the DTC is stored again. 

    Q: Is DTC No. U0131 stored? 

    1. YES:  Return to  Step 1.
    2. NO:  This diagnosis is complete.
