Diagnostic Procedure

- STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) CAN bus diagnostics.
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to perform the CAN bus diagnosis.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 3.
- NO: Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE ). After repairing the CAN bus line, go to Step 2.
- STEP 2. Check whether the DTC is stored again.
Q: Is DTC No. C1614 stored?
- YES: Go to Step 3.
- NO: This diagnosis is complete.
- STEP 3. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) data list.
Check the following data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE ).
- Item No.29: Parking brake SW (CAN input)
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 7.
- NO: Go to Step 4.
- STEP 4. Check the parking brake switch.
Check the parking brake switch (Refer to ON-VEHICLE SERVICE ).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 5.
- NO: Replace the parking brake switch. (Refer to PARKING BRAKE LEVER ). Then go to Step 7.
- STEP 5. Measure the resistance at the parking brake switch connector.
- Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Resistance between parking brake switch connector terminal No.1 and body ground
OK: No continuity
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 7.
- NO: Go to Step 6.
- STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between combination meter connector BRK terminal and parking brake switch connector terminal No.1.
Check the power supply line for short circuit.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Replace the combination meter (Refer to COMBINATION METER ). Then go to Step 7.
- NO: Repair the defective connector or the wiring harness. Then go to Step 7.
- STEP 7. Check whether the DTC is stored again.
Q: Is DTC No. C1614 stored?
- YES: Replace the AWC-ECU. (Refer to AWC-ECU < Vehicles with S-AWC > ). Then go to Step 8.
- NO: Intermittent malfunction. (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
- STEP 8. Check whether the DTC is stored again.
Q: Is DTC No. C1614 stored?
- YES: Return to Step 1.
- NO: This diagnosis is complete.
