Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) CAN bus diagnostics. 

    Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to perform the CAN bus diagnosis.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to  Step 3.
    2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE ). After repairing the CAN bus line, go to Step 2.
  2. STEP 2. Check whether the DTC is stored again. 

    Q: Is DTC No. C1219 stored? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 3.
    2. NO:  This diagnosis is complete.
  3. STEP 3. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) DTC. 

    Q: Is DTC No. C2205 stored? 

    1. YES:  Perform the relevant troubleshooting.
    2. NO:  Go to Step 4.
  4. STEP 4. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) DTC. 

    Check if the wheel speed sensor-related, G and yaw rate sensor-related, or steering wheel sensor-related DTC is stored.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Carry out the appropriate troubleshooting. Then go to  Step 9.
    2. NO:  Go to Step 5.
  5. STEP 5. Check of steering wheel sensor installation status 

    Check that the steering wheel sensor is installed correctly (Refer to STEERING WHEEL SENSOR ).

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 6.
    2. NO:  Install the steering wheel sensor correctly. Then go to Step 6.
  6. STEP 6. Wheel alignment check 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  After checking the wheel alignment, calibrate the steering wheel sensor (Refer to STEERING WHEEL SENSOR CALIBRATION ), and reset the steering wheel sensor correction amount stored in the AWC-ECU (Refer to CHECK AT AWC-ECU TERMINAL  ). Then, go to Step 7.
    2. NO:  After adjusting the wheel alignment, calibrate the steering wheel sensor (Refer to STEERING WHEEL SENSOR CALIBRATION ), and reset the steering wheel sensor correction amount stored in the AWC-ECU (Refer to AWC-ECU < Vehicles with S-AWC >  ). Then, go to Step 7.
  7. STEP 7. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) data list. 

    Check the following data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE  ).

    • Item No.8: Steering angle sensor

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 8.
    2. NO:  Replace the steering wheel sensor (Refer to STEERING WHEEL SENSOR ). Then, go to  Step 9.
  8. STEP 8. Check whether the DTC is stored again. 

    Q: Is DTC No. C1219 stored? 

    1. YES:  Replace the AWC-ECU (Refer to AWC-ECU < Vehicles with S-AWC >  ). Then, go to Step 9.
    2. NO:  Intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
  9. STEP 9. Check whether the DTC is stored again. 

    Q: Is DTC No. C1219 stored? 

    1. YES:  Return to  Step 1.
    2. NO:  This diagnosis is complete.
