- STEP 1. Check the radio and CD player operation.
Check if the radio and CD player work normally and the sound is output.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 2.
- NO: Troubleshoot the radio and CD player (Refer to TROUBLE SYMPTOM CHART ).
- Step 2. Check the external sounds input mode.
Check if the audio unit is switched to the "USB mode".
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 3.
- NO: Switch to the external sounds input mode.
- STEP 3. Check the audio display
Check if the audio display is displayed the "LSI ERROR".
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 13.
- NO: Go to Step 4.
- STEP 4. Check the USB adapter.
Check if the USB adapter works normally. (Refer to INSPECTION ).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to step 5.
- NO: Replace the USB adapter.
- STEP 5. Check the USB cable.
Check that the USB cable is connected to the USB adapter or USB box normally. Or check the USB cable for damage such as bend.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to step 6.
- NO: Replace or repair the USB cable.
- STEP 6. Check USB box connector C-54 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Q: Is USB box connector C-54 in good condition?
- YES: Go to step 7.
- NO: Repair the defective connector.
- STEP 7. Check the power supply circuit to the USB box. Measure the voltage at USB box connector C-54.
- Disconnect USB box connector C-54, and measure the voltage available at the wiring harness-side connector.
- Measure the voltage between terminal 1 and ground.
OK: The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).
Q: Is the measured voltage approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)?
- YES: Go to Step 9.
- NO: Go to Step 8.
- STEP 8. Check the wiring harness between USB box connector C-54 (terminal 1) and fusible link (36).
- Check the power supply line for open circuit and short circuit.NOTE: Also check ETACS-ECU connector C-307, C-317 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If ETACS-ECU connector C-307, C-317 is damaged, repair or replace the connector as described in HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION .
Q: USB box connector C-54 (terminal 1) and fusible link (36) in good condition?
- YES: The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS ).
- NO: The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.
- Check the power supply line for open circuit and short circuit.
- STEP 9. Check the ground circuit to the USB box. Measure the resistance at USB box connector C-54.
- Disconnect USB box connector C-54, and measure the resistance available at the wiring harness side of the connector.
- Measure the resistance between terminal 17 and ground.
OK: The resistance should be 2 ohms or less
Q: Is the measured resistance 2 ohms or less?
- YES: Go to Step 11.
- NO: Go to Step 10.
- STEP 10. Check the wiring harness between USB box connector C-54 (terminal 17) and ground.
- Check the ground wires for open circuit.
Q: Is the wiring harness between USB box connector C-54 (terminal 17) and ground in good condition?
- YES: The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS ).
- NO: The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.
- Check the ground wires for open circuit.
- STEP 11. Check radio and CD player connector C-109 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Q: Is radio and CD player connector C-109 in good condition?
- YES: Go to step 12.
- NO: Repair or replace the damaged component(s). Refer to HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION . .
- STEP 12. Check the wiring harness between radio and CD player connector C-109 (terminal 17, 12, 3, 10, 1) and USB box connector C-54 (terminal 15, 8, 22, 16, 2).
