51 21 225 Removing and installing or replacing inside door opener in left or right front door

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove front DOOR TRIM PANEL
Remove BOWDEN CABLE FOR DOOR OPENER

NOTE: Door opener is welded to door trim panel only on initial installation. During second installation, the door opener is secured by means of lock washers. If necessary, release lock washers instead of welding spots.

Removal:

Release catches (1).

Remove cover (2) from outside.

Release screw (1).

Drill out welding spots (2) on door opener (3) by means of weld spot drill bit.

Remove door opener (3).

Installation:

Insert new door opener (1) and retain it in position by means of screw (2).

Secure all welding pins (3) by means of lock washers (4).

Check door opener (1) is positioned correctly.

Insert the trim (2) from outside and clip into latch mechanisms (1).
