51 13 305 Removing and installing/replacing left or right roof railing

Preliminary work needed: 

• Lower HEADLINING 

Removal: 

Unscrew nuts (1).

Remove roof rails (1).

Installation: 

Gasket on roof rails (2) must not be damaged.

Replace butyl cord around the threaded bolt (1) (use 4 mm diameter butyl cord).

Put compensating element (1) on the roof outer skin by twisting the hexagon head (2).

Tightening torque 51 13 9AZ .

Mount the roof rails.

Replace nuts (1).

Tighten down nuts (1).

Tightening torque 51 13 5AZ .

Required reworking: 

• Fit the HEADLINING
