41 61 010 Removing and installing the engine compartment lid (active pedestrian protection)

The BATTERY GROUND LEADmust be clamped off prior to work on the hinge or engine compartment lid!
Adhere to the following SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS so as to avoid a injury hazard by the actuator.
Use suitable tool to support hood in the fully opened position.
Removal of the engine compartment lid must be carried out with the assistance of a second person.

Necessary preliminary work
- DISCONNECT cable from battery earth lead
- Disconnect all cable plug connections
- Disconnect the hose pipe for the washer system on the clutch
Removal
DISENGAGE gas spring (1) on left and right from engine compartment lid.
Slacken nuts (2) on left and right.
Release nuts (3) on left and right.
Remove engine compartment lid and set down on a suitable surface.
Installation
Install engine compartment lid with a second person helping. Tighten the nuts (2) and (3) on the left and right.
Tightening torque 41 61 1AZ .
ENGAGE gas spring (1) on left and right on engine compartment lid.
Installation note:
Install engine compartment lid at screw locations to on hinge.
If necessary, adjust ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID .
