33 32 086 Removing and installing/replacing bottom left wishbone

NOTE: If the bottom wishbone is detached from the rear axle support/trailing arm, wheel alignment must be carried out after installation. Refer to ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT VEHICLE LOAD .

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove REAR WHEEL .
Remove exhaust system. See REMOVING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (B36, B38) or REMOVING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (B48, B46) .

Removal:

Remove rear heat shield (1).

Mark position of eccentric adjustment washer to trailing arm to simplify subsequent adjustment of rear axle.

Release nut and remove screw (2).

Slacken nut (1).

Remove eccentric washer and unscrew screw.

Remove wishbone (3).

Installation note:

Tighten screw connection (2) in NORMAL POSITION .

Installation:

Align wishbone (3).

Insert bolt (1) and connect eccentric adjustment washer.

Align eccentric adjustment washer to marked position.

Tighten nut (1).

Replace screw and nut (1).

Tightening torque 33 32 2AZ .

Insert bolt (2) and screw on new nut.

Do not yet apply torque!

Replace nut.

Move vehicle into NORMAL POSITION .

Tighten nut of bolt (2) in normal position.

Tightening torque 33 32 3AZ .

Required follow-up work:

Perform wheel alignment check. Refer to ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT VEHICLE LOAD .
