33 32 021 Replacing left or right trailing arm
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove TRAILING ARM COVER .
- Remove TRAILING ARM .
Removal:
Release screw (1) and remove brake disc (2).
Release screws (1) and remove brake guard plate (2).
Loosen screws (1).
Remove wheel bearing.
Slacken nut (1).
Pull out screw.
Remove the trailing arm bearing support (2).
Installation:
Installation note:
The bore holes for the brake guard plate screw connection and shock absorber do not have a thread with the new trailing arm. This is a self-tapping screw connection.
Position trailing arm bearing support (2) on new trailing arm.
Replace nut (1).
Insert bolt and screw on nut (1).
Adjust dimension A of the trailing arm bearing support in relation to the trailing arm.
- Dimension A = 18 mm (± 3 mm)
Tighten nut (1).
Tightening torque 33 32 4AZ .
Keep contact surfaces (1) of wheel carrier and wheel bearing (hub) clean and free from oil and grease.
Align wheel bearing on trailing arm.
Replace screws (1).
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 33 41 1AZ .
Position brake guard plate (2) on trailing arm.
Replace screws (1).
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 34 21 4AZ .
Install brake disc (2).
Replace screw (1).
Tighten screw (1).
Tightening torque 34 21 1AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Carry out wheel alignment procedure. Refer to ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT VEHICLE LOAD .
