Checking engine oil pressure (B36 engine) (Cooper base)
Special tools required:
- 2289 603
- 114310
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove UNDERBODY PROTECTION
- Remove THRUST FIELD .
Removal:
Undo oil drain plug (1) at hexagon head (2).
Drain the motor oil.
Undo oil filter cover (1) at hexagon head (2).
Checking engine oil pressure with diagnostic tester:
Remount filter element (1) in the special tool 2 289 603.
Remount O-ring (2) if necessary.
Screw special tool 2 289 603 with oil filter element into the oil filter housing (1).
Tightening torque: 11 42 1AZ .
Connect special tools 2 289 603 and 11 4 310.
Lightly oil O-ring at the pressure sensor (1), (100 bar, order number: 0 431 592 ).
Screw pressure sensor (1) hand-tight into special tool 11 4 310.
Connect connecting cable (2) of I (IMIB) to pressure sensor (1) .
Run the corresponding test module.
INSTALLATION:
Stop engine.
Remove the special tools.
Check the freedom of movement of the return check valve (1).
Replace oil filter (1).
Parts : Oil filter (1).
Ensure that the oil filter (1) engages audibly.
Replace O-ring (2) and coat with motor oil.
Parts : O-ring (2).
Replace screw with O-ring (1)
Parts : Screw with O-ring (1).
Wet the O-ring (1) with motor oil.
The thread (1) must be cleaned before installation without fail with original BMW brake cleaner (part number: 83 19 2 365 214).
The thread must be completely free of motor oil!
Elastomers (O-rings) may not tap brake cleaner!
Let the brake cleaner dry completely, if necessary fuse dry with compressed air.
Oil drain plug (1).
Install oil filter cover (1) and tighten at hexagon head (2).
Tightening torque: 11 42 1AZ .
Tighten oil drain plug (1) at hexagon head (2).
Tightening torque 11 42 2AZ .
Concluding tasks:
- Install THRUST FIELD .
- Install UNDERBODY PROTECTION
- Vehicle horizontal
- Run engine for a brief period then switch off
- Check the oil level and correct, if required
