Removing and installing/replacing expansion tank for hydraulic brake system (Cooper Convertible)

Preliminary work needed:
- Read and comply with GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Remove the left WINDSHIELD PANEL COVER .
- Remove battery cover BATTERY COVER .
- Extract brake fluid out of EXPANSION TANK
IMPORTANT:
Do not reuse drawn out brake fluid.
Removal:
Remove the water outlet (1).
Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.
Detach supply hose (1) of clutch hydraulic system.
Release screw (1) and lift off expansion tank vertically in upward direction.
Installation:
IMPORTANT:
Check rubber plugs in tandem brake master cylinder for damage and replace if necessary.
Push expansion tank (1) vertically onto the tandem brake master cylinder.
Fit fastening bolt and tighten.
Tightening torque 34 31 2AZ .
Fit supply hose (1) of clutch hydraulic system and push on to the expansion tank.
IMPORTANT:
Make absolutely sure the supply hose is positioned correctly on the expansion tank!
Position plug connection (1) and snap into place.
Install the water outlet (1).
Required follow-up work:
- Install the left WINDSHIELD PANEL COVER .
- Install the BATTERY COVER .
- Top up BRAKE FLUID with BMW approved fluid.
