Replacing the wiring harness section for engine sensor system module 1 (B36, B38, B48, B46) (Cooper)

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with NOTES on protection against electrostatic damage (ESD protection).

Preliminary work needed: 

Removal:

Overview of engine sensor system module 1 wiring harness section 

Unlock and disconnect following connectors and lines  Note
Unlock and disconnect connector from DME control unit  
Unlock and disconnect connector from knock sensor  
Unlock and disconnect connector from boost pressure sensor on intake plenum  
Unlock and disconnect connector from throttle valve  
Unlock and disconnect connector from boost pressure sensor upstream of throttle valve  
Unlock connector on crankshaft sensor and disconnect  
Unlock and disconnect connector from gear sensor  
Unlock connector on oil pressure sensor and disconnect  
Unlock connector on solenoid valve and detach.  
Unlock connector on air conditioning compressor and disconnect  
Unlock and disconnect connector from thermostat  
Unlock connector on coolant temperature sensor and disconnect  
Unlock connector on tank vent valve and disconnect  
Unlock connector on oil level sensor and disconnect  

Release expansion rivet (1).

Slacken nut (2).

Feed out cover (3) and remove.

Loosen the screws along the arrows.

Take out and remove tension strut (1).

Unscrew nuts (1).

Take out positive battery cables (2) and put them aside.

Slacken nut (1).

Release seal (2).

Feed out positive battery cable (3) and lay to one side.

Pull out the cable duct (1) and put it aside.

Pull out the cable duct (1) and put it aside.

Feed out partition wall (1) and remove.

Unlock the locks along the arrow.

Take out and remove the cover (1) from the guides (2).

Unlock and loosen the cable shaft (1) along the arrows.

Feed out cable duct (1) and remove.

Unlock and detach connector (1) on the control unit along the arrow.

Release wiring harness from clips and guard controls.

Take out and remove cable harness-section in engine sensor system module 1.

Installation: 

Lay and install cable harness-section in engine sensor system 1 module.

Fix the cable harness-section in engine sensor system 1 module to the Clips and clamps.

All connectors must audibly engage.

Overview of engine sensor system module 1 wiring harness section 

Connect and lock the following connectors and lines  Note
Connect and lock the connector of DME control unit  
Connect and lock the front connector of the knock sensor.  
Connect and lock the connector of the boost pressure sensor to the commutator for the intake air.  
Connect and lock connector on throttle valve.  
Connect and lock the connector of charge-air pressure sensor before the throttle valve.  
Connect and lock the connector from the crankshaft sensor.  
Connect and lock the connector from the neutral sensor.  
Connect and lock the connector from the oil pressure sensor.  
Connect and lock the connector from the solenoid valve.  
Connect and lock the connector from the air conditioning compressor.  
Connect and lock the connector from the thermostat.  
Unlock connector on coolant temperature sensor and disconnect  
Connect and lock the connector for the tank vent valve.  
Connect and lock the connector from the oil-level sensor.  

Connect and lock connector (1) along the arrow on the control unit.

Connectors (1) must engage audibly.

Insert and install cover (1) in the guides (2).

Lock the locks along the arrows.

Locks must engage audibly.

Thread in cable duct (1) and install.

Lock the cable shaft (1) along the arrows.

Locks must engage audibly.

Feed in partition wall (1) and install.

Feed in and install positive battery cable (3).

Feed in and install seal (2).

Installation note: 

Make sure seal (2) is correctly seated.

Tighten nut (1).

Tightening torque 61 21 1AZ .

Insert and install positive battery cables (2).

Tighten nut (1).

Tightening torque 61 21 3AZ .

Insert and install tension strut (1).

Tighten screws along arrows.

Tightening torque 61 21 5AZ .

Feed in and install the cover (3).

Attach expanding rivet (1).

Tighten nut (2).
