Removing and installing/replacing complete prop shaft center bearing (Cooper ALL4)

Special tools required: 

• 00 7 500
• 26 1 150
• 33 1 020
• 33 5 070
• 33 0 080
• 23 2 430

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove PROP SHAFT .

Removal: 

The front and rear prop shaft must be re- assembled in the same installation position.

Mark front prop shaft (1) and rear prop shaft (2) in one plane.

Hold prop shaft (1) with special tool 33 5 070 and 33 0 080.

Loosen nut from prop shaft (2) with special tool 33 5 070 and 33 0 080.

Pull apart prop shaft.

Remove sealing ring (1), snapring (2) and flange nut (3).

Install special tool 00 7 500 between central mount (1) and prop shaft (2).

Push off central mount (1) from the prop shaft (2) using a hydraulic press.

Install special tool 00 7 500 between grooved ball bearing (1) and prop shaft (2).

Using a hydraulic press, force deep groove ball bearing (1) off prop shaft (2).

Installation: 

Parts: Replace grooved ball bearing.

Use special tool 23 2 430 to press new grooved ball bearing (1) on to prop shaft (2).

Parts  : Replace central mount.

Push new central mount (1) onto grooved ball bearing and press on with special tool 23 2 430.

Parts:  Replace flange nut, snapring and sealing ring.

Install sealing ring (3), snapring (2) and flange nut (1).

Push prop shaft together and secure.

Tightening torque: 26 11 5AZ .

Required follow-up work: 

• Install PROP SHAFT .
