Removing and installing/replacing lock for left or right rear seat backrest (Cooper Convertible)

IMPORTANT:
  • Microencapsulated screws must be coated with Loctite if they are to be reused
  • Screw connection must be completed within 20 min. (start of harden)
  • Microencapsulated screws must not  be retightened.
  • Thread of nut must be cleaned beforehand in event of repeated use

Preliminary work needed: 

Removal: 

Release the trim (1) on the clips (2).

Unclip the cover (1) from the trim panel (3).

Remove screw (1).

Unscrew the screws (1).

Remove trim panel (2).

Unscrew the screws (1).

Remove the backrest lock (2).

Detach the Bowden cable (1) from the backrest lock (2).

Installation: 

Attach the Bowden cable (1) in the backrest lock (2).

Insert the backrest lock (2).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 52 26 8AZ .

Position trim panel (2).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tighten screw (1).

Clip in the trim (1) into the trim panel (3).

Clip in the trim (1) using the clips (2).
