12 51 001 Replacing wiring harness section for engine (N16)

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION) .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Read out the fault memory of the DME control unit.
Switch off ignition.
Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
Remove INTAKE PLENUM .
Remove right ENGINE MOUNT .

Unlock and remove cover (1).

Unlock and detach the two rear connectors (1).

Unlock and pull off connector (1) for camshaft sensors.

Unlock and pull off connector (2) for oil pressure sensor.

Unlock and detach vacuum line (3).

Remove cable duct (4) from holder by lifting upwards.

Release screws.

Tightening torque 13 53 4AZ .

Detach fuel rail (1) from cylinder head.

Pull off fuel injection pipe (1) from cylinder head until connectors of fuel injectors are accessible

Unlock connector (1) and remove.

Installation note:

Replace sealing rings on fuel injectors and coat with rubber care product.

Work step	Note
Unlock and pull off connector for coolant temperature sensor.	N12
Unlock connector on coolant thermostat and disconnect
Unlock connector for eccentric shaft sensor and pull off.
Unlock and pull off CONNECTOR FOR IGNITION COILS
Release ground connection from cylinder head	Tightening torque 12 51 1AZ .
Unlock and pull off connector for front solenoid valve
Unlock and pull off connector for control and monitoring sensors
Unlock and pull off connector at servomotor for eccentric shaft
Unlock and pull off CONNECTOR FOR FUEL INJECTORS .
Unlock and pull off connector for fuel differential-pressure sensor
Unlock and pull off connector for knock sensor
Unlock and pull off connector for tank vent valve
Unlock and pull off connector for crankshaft sensor
Unlock and pull off connector for throttle body
Unlock and pull off connector for rear solenoid valve
Unlock and pull off connector for friction wheel

NOTE: Check stored fault messages.
Clear diagnostic fault entries from fault memory.
