64 12 700 Removing and installing/replacing latent heat accumulator

When replacing, flush cooling system due to salt leaks, refer to 64 12... FLUSHING COOLING SYSTEM WHEN REPLACING LATENT HEAT ACCUMULATOR DUE TO SALT LEAKS .

Remove A-pillar trim from right footwell and remove right rocker strip.

Remove right glovebox, refer to 51 16 360 REMOVING AND INSTALLING RIGHT GLOVE BOX .

Remove entrance cover strip at front right, refer to 51 47 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING THE FRONT (INSIDE) LEFT OR RIGHT ROCKER PANEL STRIP .

Release screw and pull side carpet on right in direction of arrow out of retainers.

Cut open carpet floor as far as possible under heater and fold back in direction of arrow.

Release screws and raise lines in direction of arrow.

Installation: 

Replace sealing rings.

Unfasten nut.

Unhook holder in direction of arrow.

Lift out latent heat accumulator as vertically as possible to prevent coolant from escaping from accumulator.

Installation: 

Prior to installation, prefill latent heat accumulator with coolant. To do so, place accumulator in vertical position.

Insert funnel and hose in a lead and seal (e.g. with Terostat tape). Carefully fill system with coolant. The coolant is forced through the latent heat accumulator by the generated head of water. Continue adding coolant until it emerges from the other line.

Reinstall latent heat accumulator as vertically as possible.

Vent latent heat accumulator after installation. Refer to 64 12 VENTING LATENT HEAT ACCUMULATOR (LWS) .
