51 22 200 Removing and installing/replacing outside handle and lock control on left or right rear door

Remove rear door trim panel, refer to 51 42 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR TRIM PANEL .

Remove outside handle on rear door, refer to 51 22 170 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING OUTSIDE HANDLE ON LEFT OR RIGHT BACK DOOR .

NOTE: To release or partially detach sound insulation, follow procedure in "Removing and installing/replacing sound insulation on left or right rear door", refer to 51 48... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SOUND INSULATION IN REAR DOOR, LEFT OR RIGHT

Partially pull off rear acoustic insulation and secure with adhesive tape.

Disconnect Bowden cable nipple (1) and Bowden cable core (2) from door lock

Unfasten screws (1) and remove lock control (2) (carrier for outside door handle).

Only replace:

Unfasten clip (2) and disconnect Bowden cable (1) from lock control.
