51 22 435 Removing And Installing Function Carrier (With Roller Sun Blind) On Left Or Right Rear Door

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Remove door trim panel. Refer to 51 42 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR TRIM PANEL .
Version With Roller Sun Blind Only:
Remove roller sun blind of fixed side window. Refer to 51 16 400 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING ROLLER SUN BLIND AT FIXED SIDE WINDOW OF LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR .
Remove guide rail for roller sun blind. Refer to 51 16... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING GUIDE RAIL FOR ROLLER SUN BLIND OF LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR .

IMPORTANT: Risk of mixing up plugs for door lock and control unit! Mark relevant plugs prior to removal.

Release screws (1).

Disconnect plug connections (2).

Feed out door wiring harness (kink-free) through wiring harness opening (3).

Disconnect Bowden cable (4). Refer to 51 22 235 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOWDEN CABLE FOR INSIDE DOOR OPENER ON LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR .

Version with roller sun blind only:

Unfasten screws (5 and 6).

Release quick-release couplings.

Remove function carrier.

Installation:

If necessary, replace defective quick-release couplings.

Make sure quick-release couplings are installed in correct position.

Quick-release coupling grey 1.8 mm.
Quick-release coupling white 0.8 mm.

Installation:

Seal on function carrier (sound insulation) must not be damaged.

Installation:

Version With Roller Sun Blind Only:

Installation sequence:

Install function carrier.
Connect cable and Bowden cable (graphic R51 3078).
Lock couplings (graphic R51 3080).
Install roller sun blind. Refer to 51 16 400 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING ROLLER SUN BLIND AT FIXED SIDE WINDOW OF LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR .
Install guide rail. Refer to 51 16... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING GUIDE RAIL FOR ROLLER SUN BLIND OF LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR .
Tighten screws (1).
Press roller blind cassette (2) upwards and tighten down screws (3).
Tighten screws (4).
Install door trim panel. Refer to 51 42 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR TRIM PANEL .
Carry out function test on roller sun blind. Refer to 51 16... FUNCTION TEST OF ROLLER SUN BLIND OF LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR .

Tightening torque, screw (1), refer to 51 16 10AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Tightening torque, screws (3), refer to 51 16 11AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
