37 12 1090 Removing and installing rear left or right spring strut (M6)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove REAR WHEEL
Remove luggage compartment wheel arch panel . See 51 47 151 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM or 51 47 161 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH PANEL

Fold sound insulation upwards.

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 33 52 1AZ .

Installation note:

Replace nuts.

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Expose line up to the spring strut.

Slacken nut (1).

Partially fold up wheel arch panel (2).

Installation note:

Replace nut if necessary.

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 33 52 3AZ .

Remove spring strut from wheel carrier.

Installation note:

Replace screw.

Press wheel carrier downwards.

Remove spring strut towards rear/downwards.

IMPORTANT: Before tightening screw connection, check that spring strut shock absorber pin is correctly positioned in wheel carrier.
