37 12 090 Removing and installing rear left or right spring strut (640i, 640i xDrive, 650i, 650xi)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove REAR WHEEL
Remove WHEEL ARCH PANEL at rear right/left
Remove wheel arch panel at rear left/right . See 51 47 151 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM or 51 47 161 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH PANEL

Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Unscrew nuts (2) SW13.

Installation note:

Replace nuts.

Tightening torque 33 52 1AZ .

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 33 52 3AZ .

Remove spring strut from wheel carrier.

Installation note:

Replace screw

Press wheel carrier (1) down.

First move spring strut (2) down slightly in direction of arrow in front of output shaft. Then, at top of wheel arch, swing down spring strut and remove.

IMPORTANT: Before tightening screw connection, check that spring strut shock absorber pin is correctly positioned in wheel carrier.
