51 16 040 Removing and installing/replacing housing on left or right exterior mirror

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove RETAINING RING ON EXTERIOR MIRROR 
• Remove PROTECTIVE CAP ON EXTERIOR MIRROR 
• Remove MIRROR ADJUSTMENT DRIVE

Release screws (1).

If necessary, disconnect the connector (3) from the Top View camera.

Installation note: 

Ensure latch mechanism (2) is correctly seated.

Carefully loosen screw holes (1) from exterior mirror (2).

Feed out housing (3) downward.

Catches (1) and screw holes (2) on housing (3) must not be damaged.

For replacement with Top View camera version: 

• Move TOP VIEW CAMERA

Ensure latch mechanism (2) is correctly seated.

The latch mechanisms (2) on the housing (3) must not be damaged or missing.

Carefully loosen screw holes (1) from exterior mirror (2).

Feed out housing (3) downward.

Installation note: 

The bore holes (1) on the housing (3) must not be damaged or missing.

Replacement: 

Remove the turn indicator (1) from the housing (2) in the direction of the arrow.

For replacements with top view camera equipment specification: 

• Remount the TOP VIEW CAMERA
