51 16 041 Removing and installing/replacing cover cap on left or right exterior mirror

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove DRIVE UNIT FOR EXTERIOR MIRROR

Unlock protective cap at latch mechanisms (2) using suitable tool (1).

Secure cover cap (2) against falling off.

Unlock latch mechanisms (1) between protective cap (2) and retaining ring (3) with special tool 00 9 317 .

Carefully pull up protective cap (2) and remove.

Installation note:

Catches (1) and guides (2) on cover cap (3) must not be damaged.
