51 32... Adjusting vertical dimension of front left or right side window

Special tools required: 

IMPORTANT: Cavity gap of door window glass is adjusted ideally ex works (works tolerance 0.8 mm).
Recommendation: 
Only perform adjustments on the shaft dimension at the door window pane if this is absolutely necessary.
IMPORTANT: Do not slam the door during adjustment and measurement (risk of breaking glass).

Prerequisite: 

  1. Preparations for measurement: 

    Rear window lift rail (1) must be centered on holder (2).

    • Slacken nut (3) with special tool 51 3 300 (do not release)
    • Adjust rear window lift rail (1) until lock washer (4) is centered on nut (3)
    • Tighten nut (3)

      Tightening torque 51 33 7AZ .

    Open door, move door window glass into uppermost position.

    Insert special tool 51 0 341 (from set 51 0 340 ) into door lock and manually lock rotary striker.

    NOTE: Power window regulator will only move to the end stop via short lift when special tool is inserted.

  2. Measure the cavity gap: 

    Please observe line of sight when reading (from rear edge of door towards the front).

    Determine shaft dimension (X) using special tool 51 0 342 (from set 51 0 340 ) from door window glass horizontally to inner edge of flange (1).

    (X) = 10.5 ±1 mm

  3. Adjust the cavity gap: 

    Loosen nut (1) with special tool 51 0 400 .

    Insert extension in special tool 51 0 400 .

    Adjust shaft dimension by twisting the extension and countering with nut (1).

    Tightening torque 51 33 6AZ .

    Check shaft dimension, repeat adjustment procedure if necessary.

    NOTE: After adjusting procedure on shaft dimension: ADJUST FRONT DOOR WINDOW GLASS .
