51 32 154 Adjusting left or right front side window
Special tools required:
- Seal against water ingress
- No wind noise
- No rattling
- No unintentional reversing of side windows during closing (anti-trap safety function)
Prerequisites for correctly setting door window pane:
- FRONT DOOR SETTINGS are correct
- VERTICAL DIMENSION OF DOOR WINDOW PANE setting is correct
- Inside weather strip is fitted
- Vehicle is supported on wheels at ground level
- All the following procedures must always be carried out step by step and in full
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- CHARGE
battery
(Full operability of the power windows during the adjustment procedure is only assured with an external power supply)
- Remove WEATHER STRIP on outside of front door (rear)
- Door window pane preload
- 1.1. Preparations for measurement:
Open door; move door window pane into uppermost position, if necessary.
Insert special tool 51 0 341 into door lock and manually lock with rotary striker.
Carefully close door until special tool 51 0 341 magnetically connects to striker (= defined door opening angle for measurement).
NOTE: Ensure that special tool 51 0 341 remains centrally positioned throughout the remaining measurement.Power window regulator will only move to the end stop via short lift when special tool is inserted.
- 1.2. Measurement: NOTE: No force must be exerted on the door or door window pane during measurement.
Bring special tool 51 0 342 into contact with window guide gasket (1) and door window (2).

Preload Dimension in mm 28, 5 ±1 Measured between window guide gasket and outer edge of door window - 1.3. Setting:
Open door and remove sealing cap on door window frame.
Correctly position special tool 51 3 300 and slacken nut (4) with reversible ratchet (5).
Tightening torque 51 33 7AZ .
Adjusting element (2) for preload is set at bolt (3) and can be adjusted by turning knob (1) of special tool 51 3 300 .
Check dimension for preload as described and repeat adjustment if necessary.
- 1.1. Preparations for measurement:
- Door window pane retraction depth
- 2.1. Measurement:
- 2.1.1. Measurement in longitudinal direction at frontNOTE: Check play of special tool 51 0 000 to edge of door window pane before each measurement.
Open door and remove special tool 51 0 341 from rotary striker lock, if applicable.
Lower door window pane (1) until special tool 51 0 000 can be inserted between gasket (2) of the mirror triangle and door window pane (1).
Carefully close door window pane (1); special tool 51 0 000 must not tilt (to avoid scratching glass).
Align special tool 51 0 000centrally to the mirror triangle.

Retraction depth in longitudinal direction Dimension in mm 17 ±1 Measured from window edge to profile gasket edge of mirror triangle - 2.1.2. Measurement in longitudinal direction at rear (parallelism)
Close door and door window glass.
Determine distance (X) from door window (1) to side window (2) at points (A) and (B) using special tool 51 0 342 .

Point (A) Point (B) Dimension (X) in mm 8 + 1, 9 Measured dimension (X) at point (A) ±1.5
Maximum value of 9.5 mm must not be exceeded.Measured 20 mm below roof 30 mm above door edge - 2.1.3. Measurement of retraction depth at topNOTE: Check play of special tool 51 0 000 to edge of door window pane before each measurement.
To correctly determine the dimension, transfer edge (1) of profile seal with special tool 51 0 342 to scale perpendicular to special tool 51 0 000 (see Fig 6).
Open door and connect a special tool 51 0 000 to points (A) and (B) of window pane glass.
Close door.
Determine dimension for retraction depth at points (A) and (B) as described at scale of special tool 51 0 000 .

Retraction depth at point (A) Retraction depth at point (B) Dimension in mm 6 ±1 6 ±1 Measured 30 mm above mirror triangle 30 mm from rear edge of door window
- 2.1.1. Measurement in longitudinal direction at front
- 2.2. Setting of retraction depth: NOTE: Avoid damaging door window pane (1) and window cavity through tool use.
Three 51 0 000 special tools are required to speed up adjustment.
When configuring setting, ensure that all special tools 51 0 000 continue to touch edge of door window pane without any gaps.
Attach suction lifter (51 3 010) to center of door window glass (1).
Slacken multipoint head cap screws (2) 51 3 240 with special tool until door window glass (1) can just be moved with little effort with suction lifter.
Open door and move power window regulator down once by approx. 5 cm and back into topmost position. Observe special tool 51 0 000 when doing so.
NOTE: This ensures the correct positioning of the power window regulator at the end stop. If you are unsure, additionally adjust door window pane (1) downwards and repeat process.Only after this, adjust the retraction depths of the door window glass (1) and the parallelism with the side window by moving it with suction lifter.
Tighten multipoint head cap screws (2) using special tool 51 3 240 and torque wrench (1).
Tightening torque 51 33 5AZ .
IMPORTANT: Do not release or tighten multipoint head cap screws over inside of door (disassembled door trim panel; threaded bolt may snap).Measure retraction depth of door window and parallelism with side window again and readjust if necessary.
Check preload of door window pane again as described under "1. Door window pane preload" and adjust if necessary.
