72 12 050 Removing and installing side airbag (front seat)

WARNING: Observe SAFETY REGULATIONS for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners.
Incorrect handling can cause airbags to trigger, resulting in serious injuries.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Clamp off BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD
Partially detach backrest cover. See BACKREST COVER FOR LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT (COMFORT) or BACKREST COVER FOR LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT (NORMAL/SEMI-ELECTRIC) .

Remove cover (1).

Unlock PLUG CONNECTION (1) and disconnect.

Release screws.

Installation:

Replace screws.

Tightening torques 72 12 06AZ .

Remove airbag module (1) from inner bag (2).

Installation:

Pull inner bag (2) fully over airbag module (1) and screw brackets.
