16 11 060 Removing and installing/replacing fuel filler pipe

Draw off fuel from fuel tank. Refer to 16 00 005 Draining and filling fuel tank .

Remove partition wall. Refer to 16 11 ... Removing and installing/replacing partition wall, retaining bracket and wheel arch trim .

Unhook retaining strap from fuel filler flap.

Open cap and set to one side.

Release screws (1).

Remove rear right wheel.

Remove wheel arch trim (1) at rear right.

Unfasten hose clip (1).

Installation:

Replace hose clamp (1).

Tightening torque 16 12 9AZ. Refer to FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Unhook central locking Bowden cable (1).

Turn central locking lock (2) and press into cover pot (3).

Detach hose fitting (4) and do not lose sealing ring.

Release screws (5).

Carefully press cover pot with rubber sleeve over fuel filler pipe (1).

Guide with other hand from below.

CAUTION: After installing fuel filler pipe, check electrical resistance between grounding lead (tank filler pipe) and wheel hub.
Measured value < 1000ohm

Release hose clamp (1) and detach vent hose from fuel filler pipe (3).

Installation:

Replace hose clamp (1).

Tightening torque 16 12 8AZ. Refer to FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Detach rubber sleeve (2).

Remove fuel filler pipe (3) completely from wheel arch.
