16 11 ... Removing and installing/replacing screw cap with rubber seal

Draw off fuel from fuel tank. Refer to 16 00 005 Draining and filling fuel tank .

Remove partition wall. Refer to 16 11 ... Removing and installing/replacing partition wall, retaining bracket and wheel arch trim .

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Release quick-release couplings (2) and detach.

Installation:

Check locking of both quick-release couplings by pulling, do not actuate release elements in the process.

Unfasten hose clip (3) and remove hose.

Installation:

Replace hose clamp (3) on vent hose.

Tightening torque 16 12 8AZ. Refer to FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Cut open acoustic cover in area (4) of perforations and fold back.

NOTE: Secure folded-back acoustic cover with adhesive tape.

Release screw cap with special tool 16 1 020.

Installation:

Replace rubber seal, always lay rubber seal in fuel tank in so doing.

Tighten down screw cap to specified torque.

Tightening torque 16 14 2AZ. Refer to FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Installation:

When tightening to torque:

notch on screw cap (1) must clearly be heard and felt to engage toothed segment (2) on tank.

Installation:

During installation, ensure lug (1) engages opening (2) in fuel tank.
