11 12 503 Dismantling and reassembling cylinder head (S62)

Screw special tool 11 0 213 to special tool 11 1 065.

Secure special tool 11 1 065 to special tool 00 1 490.

Provide special tools for disassembly of cylinder head:

NOTE: At this point, do not yet install special tool 11 0 211 (support board) in special tool 11 1 065.

Remove throttle assembly.

CAUTION: The work step Removing and installing throttle assembly contains important tips on installing the pull rods and the throttles,
refer to 13 54 030 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING THROTTLE BODY (S62) .

Unfasten screws.

Remove water pipe (1).

Installation:

Replace gaskets (1).

CAUTION: Do not damage sealing surface.
If necessary, cover special tool 11 1 065 with plastic sheeting.

Fit cylinder head on special tool 11 1 065 and secure with two cylinder head screws.

Remove camshafts.

This task is described in the section "Removing left/right camshafts",

refer to 11 31 011 REPLACING LEFT CAMSHAFTS (S62) and 11 31 015 Replacing right camshafts (S62) .

Remove all valve springs, refer to 11 34 715 REPLACING ALL VALVE SPRINGS (S62) .

Remove all valve stem seals, refer to 11 34 560 REPLACING ALL VALVE STEM SEALS (M62, S62) .

Remove all valves, refer to 11 34 552 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING ALL VALVES (S62) .
