18 40 010 Removing and installing/replacing left exhaust manifold (S65)

WARNING: Scalding hazard! Only perform these tasks on an engine that has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove alternator. See ALTERNATOR WITH DRIVE .
Remove complete exhaust system .
Secure engine in installation position with special tool.
Lower front axle carrier. See 31 11 001 REPLACING FRONT AXLE CARRIER (M3) .

Remove heat shield.

Release nuts of individual flange pairs. Remove exhaust manifold. To install, replace nuts. Tightens nuts on each flange. Tightening torque, see 18 40 1AZ in 18 40 EXHAUST MANIFOLD, EXHAUST SYSTEM . Replace seals.
