51 16 270 Removing and installing rear console at rear (long version)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove upper rear console trim
Remove infrared trim
Remove lower rear console trim
Remove drawer
Remove fresh-air grille from rear console . See 64 22 198 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRESH-AIR GRILLE IN REAR CONSOLE (LONG VERSION) .

Unclip panel (2) towards front from retainers (1).

Tilt panel (1) forwards slightly and feed out of rear console (2).

Installation:

Make sure panel (1) is correctly seated on panel (2).

Unscrew nuts (1).

Release cable tie (2).

Disconnect plug connections (1) and feed cable out of rear console cable guides.

Remove air duct (1).

Unscrew nuts (2).

Feed out cable and remove rear console (4) towards top rear.

Installation:

Ensure guide (3) is correctly seated.

Replacement:

Remove DVD player.
