Test Y: Door Ajar Warning Never/Always On

  1. Check courtesy lamp operation. Turn key OFF. Open the left front door. Observe the courtesy lamps. Close the left front door and open the right front door. Observe the courtesy lamps. Close the right front door and open the body side door. Observe the courtesy lamps. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate when the left front door, right front door, or body side door is open? If yes, go to next step. If no, diagnose problem in courtesy lamp circuit.
  2. Check door ajar warning indicator miniature bulb. Turn key OFF. Remove the instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove the door ajar warning indicator miniature bulb. Measure the continuity between the terminals of the door ajar warning indicator miniature bulb. Does continuity exist? If yes, go to next step. If no, replace the door ajar warning indicator miniature bulb.
  3. Check wire between instrument cluster and diode junction box. Turn key OFF. Locate and disconnect the instrument cluster connector C266. Locate and remove the center green diode strip from the diode junction box. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Measure the resistance of the Blue wire between the instrument cluster connector C266 and Pin No. 19 at the diode junction box connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Measure the resistance of the Blue wire between the instrument cluster connector C266 and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the instrument cluster and the diode junction box and greater than 10,000 ohms between the instrument cluster and ground? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Blue wire.
  4. Check wire between diode junction box and timer module. Turn key OFF. Remove the center green diode strip from the diode junction box. Locate and disconnect the timer module connector. Measure the resistance of the Red/White wire between Pin No. 21 at the diode junction box connector and Pin No. 14 at the timer module connector. Measure the resistance of the Red/White wire between Pin No. 14 at the timer module connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the diode junction box and the timer module and greater than 10,000 ohms between the timer module and ground? If yes, replace the center green diode strip. If no, repair Red/White wire.
