Test P: Low Oil Pressure Warning Never/Always On
- Check engine oil pressure. See ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS
. Is engine oil pressure within specification? If yes, go to next step. If no, service engine.ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS
Engine RPM Pressure, PSI (kg/cm2 Idle More Than 17 (1.2) 3200 57-70 (4.0-4.9) - Check low oil pressure indicator bulb. Turn key OFF. Remove the low oil pressure indicator miniature bulb. Check the continuity between the terminals of the low oil pressure indicator miniature bulb. Does continuity exist? If yes, go to next step. If no, replace the low oil pressure indicator miniature bulb.
- Check engine oil pressure switch. Turn key OFF. Locate and disconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Measure the resistance between the terminal of the engine oil pressure switch and ground under the following conditions. With the engine running, resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms. With the engine off, resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Are the resistances correct? If yes, go to next step. If no, replace engine oil pressure switch.
- Check wire between instrument cluster and engine oil pressure switch. Turn key OFF. Locate and disconnect the instrument cluster connector C266. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector. Measure the resistance of the Red wire between the instrument cluster connector C266 and the engine oil pressure switch connector. Measure the resistance of the Red wire between the instrument cluster connector C266 and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the instrument cluster and the engine oil pressure switch, and greater than 10,000 ohms between the instrument cluster and ground? If yes, replace the instrument cluster printed circuit. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If no, service the Red wire.
