  • ENTER the instrument cluster (IC) DataLogger and command the speedometer (SPDOMETER) on and off while monitoring the gauge pointer for smooth operation. If the speedometer pointer sweeps smoothly, REPAIR the rear axle speed sensor wiring, tone ring or sensor as required. TEST the system for normal operation. If the speedometer pointer jumps or is erratic, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.

  • If the integrated circuit display turns on, the system is operating normally at this time. The display was set to a blank display.
  • If the integrated display is still blank, GO to PINPOINT TEST A .

PRESS the SELECT/RESET button (base IC  or the INFO button (message center IC  to make sure the display is not set to a blank display.
  • If the message center display turns on, the system is operating normally at this time. The message center display was set to a blank display.
  • If the message center display is still blank, GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
  • Not all segments of the display illuminate

  • VERIFY that the fuel gauge operates correctly and that there is less than approximately 3 gallons of fuel in the tank.

  • If the fuel gauge does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST B  (single fuel tank) or GO to PINPOINT TEST C  (dual fuel tanks).
  • NOTE: The miles to empty warning only displays at 80 km (50 miles) to empty which is equal to approximately 3-5 gallons of fuel remaining. This is a learned strategy based on fuel economy and changes from its default setting.
  • If the fuel gauge operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM, PARK BRAKE ENGAGED or BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW warning is inoperative/always on
  • IC 
  • Smart Junction Box (SJB)
  • CHECK the operation of the brake warning indicator.

  • If the brake warning indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST R  (never on) or GO to PINPOINT TEST S  (always on).
  • If the brake warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The DRIVER, PASSENGER, REAR LEFT or REAR RIGHT DOOR AJAR warning is inoperative/always on
  • Interior lighting concern
  • IC 
  • CHECK the operation of the door ajar message center warning indicator.

  • If the door ajar message center warning indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AN .
  • If the door ajar message center warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM warning is inoperative/always on
  • IC 
  • VERIFY that the charging system warning indicator operates correctly.

  • If the charging system warning indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST Z .
  • If the charging system warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT, LOW TIRE PRESSURE or TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT warning is inoperative/always on
  • SJB 
  • IC 
  • VERIFY that the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning indicator operates correctly.

  • If the TPMS  message center warning indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST Y .
  • If the TPMS  message center warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The TRAIN LEFT FRONT, RIGHT FRONT, RIGHT REAR, INNER RGT REAR, LEFT REAR, INNER LEFT REAR, SPARE TIRE, TRAINING COMPLETE OR TIRES NOT TRAINED-REPEAT message is inoperative
  • SJB 
  • IC 
  • If the TPMS  message is never displayed, OBSERVE the operation of the TPMS  warning indicator.

  • If the TPMS  pressure warning indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST Y .
  • If the TPMS  message indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The TRAIN LEFT FRONT, RIGHT FRONT, RIGHT REAR, INNER RGT REAR, LEFT REAR, INNER LEFT REAR, SPARE TIRE, TRAINING COMPLETE OR TIRES NOT TRAINED-REPEAT message is always on
  • Tire training
  • If the TPMS  message is always on, CARRY out the TPMS  sensor training. REFER to WHEELS AND TIRES .
  • The WIRING FAULT ON TRAILER, TRAILER BRAKE MODULE FAULT or TRAILER DISCONNECTED warning is inoperative/always on
  • IC  configuration
  • Trailer brake control system
  • OBSERVE the trailer brake warning and confirm customer concern.
  • If the trailer brake warning is inoperative, VERIFY the vehicle is equipped with the trailer brake control system and that the IC  is correctly configured for trailer brakes. REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
  • If the trailer brake warning is always on, REFER to AUXILIARY BRAKE SYSTEM .
  • The DRAIN WATER SEPARATOR warning is inoperative/always on (diesel only)
  • IC 
  • CHECK the operation of the water in fuel message center indicator.

  • If the water in fuel message center indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AF .
  • If the water in fuel message center indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
