| 2 | Remove collar nut (40). | Fig 4 | |
| 3 | Remove joint flange (41). | Fig 1 | |
| 4 | Check joint flange (41) for damage. | If damage is found, ↓ Replace joint flange (41). |

| 5 | Pry radial shaft sealing ring (43) and dust cap (42) out of rear axle differential (50) using a suitable tool. | Do not damage seat of radial shaft sealing ring (43) in rear axle differential (50). Otherwise leaks may occur. |

| 6 | Clean seat surface of radial shaft sealing ring (43) in rear axle differential (50). | Assembly cleaner | *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A |
| 7 | Check seat surface of radial shaft sealing ring (43) in rear axle differential (50) for damage. |
If damage is found, ↓ Replace rear axle differential (50). Model 223 with engine 279 with code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) |
