	Risk of burn injuries,  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.	Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone.	AS49.00-Z-0001-01A

	Remove/install
1	Remove air intake pipes (2).
2	Remove air filter housing.	Remove/install left air filter housing Remove/install right air filter housing	AR09.10-P-1151SC AR09.10-P-1152SC
3	Remove left lambda sensor upstream of catalytic converter.		AR07.04-P-0081SC
4	Remove electrical wiring harness (3) from engine until screws (4) can be accessed.
5	Unscrew screws (4) and remove heat shield (5).	Bolt, upper heat shield to bracket/side heat shield	*BA09.40-P-1006-01ZA
6	Unclip wiring harness of right lambda sensor upstream of catalytic converter at right heat shield bracket.		AR07.04-P-0083SC
7	Release, disconnect electrical connector of left lambda sensor downstream of catalytic converter and remove from engine.		AR07.04-P-0082SC
8	Secure vehicle on the vehicle lift.		AR00.60-P-1006A
9	Remove center and rear engine compartment lining.		AR61.20-P-1105S
		Only install center and rear lower rear engine compartment lining again after leak test.
10	Release, disconnect electrical connector of gasoline particulate filter differential pressure sensor (B163/5) and remove gasoline particulate filter differential pressure sensor (B163/5) with bracket from shield. 11	Remove gasoline particulate filter temperature sensor (B163/1) from left catalytic converter and expose electric line.	Model 223 with engine 176 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0)	AR49.20-P-0200SB
12	Remove bracket (6) from crankcase.	Bolt, rear heat shield bracket to crankcase	*BA09.40-P-1005-01ZA
13	Remove clamp (7) of left catalytic converter (11).	Observe alignment of clamp (7). Leaks can occur otherwise. If a one-piece clamp (7) is installed, install a two-piece clamp (7). In the case of a two-piece clamp (7), replace screws and nuts.

14	Remove left catalytic converter from bracket (9).	Screw, butterfly bracket to catalytic converter	*BA49.10-P-1008-02Y
15	Remove bracket (9) from crankcase.	Screw, Exhaust system to Crankcase bracket	*BA49.10-P-1007-02Y
16	Remove clamp (10).	Exhaust system must be aligned so that it is free of tension before tightening bolted connections. Otherwise, leaks will occur in the exhaust system. Replace clamp (10).
		Clamp, front exhaust system to center exhaust line	*BA49.10-P-1013-02Y
17	Unscrew screws (12, 13) and remove bracket (14).	Screw, Catalytic converter bracket to exhaust system	*BA49.10-P-1005-02Y
		Screw, Exhaust system bracket to transmission	*BA49.10-P-1004-02Y
18	Secure left catalytic converter (11) and right catalytic converter (1 r) with cable strap against falling down.	Commercially available devices/tools  Cable strap
19	Remove automatic transmission.	Model 223 with engine 176 with transmission 725.1	AR27.10-P-0005S
20	Remove brackets (6, 9) downward.
21	Release left catalytic converter (11) and remove downward.
22	Remove combustion and corrosion residues on flange connections.
23	Install in the reverse order.
24	Check installation position and unobstructed movement of exhaust system.	If there are problems: ↓ Align the exhaust system.
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
25	Perform engine test run and in this connection check exhaust system for leaks.
26	Install center and rear engine compartment lining.		AR61.20-P-1105S
