Remove/Install Front Door Armrest - AR72.10-P-1035MFA

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove front door trim.   AR72.10-P-6575MFA 
2 Set down front door trim on suitable base.    
3 Remove ambient lighting from armrest (1). Model 118, 177
with code 877 (Ambient lighting)
 
4.1 Drill plastic spot welds (2). If armrest (1) has been plastics welded.
NOTES Observe drilling and cutting depth.
Armrest (1) or basic carrier can otherwise be damaged by drilling through.
IMPORTANT Operate cordless drill/driver with spot facer (8) for cutting off plastic spot welds (2) at high drilling speed and low advance.
Aim for an undercut of up to 2 mm in order to ensure sufficient preload.
Use spot facer (8), M4 according to DIN 373 with head diameter 8 mm and pin diameter 3.3 mm.
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Cordless drill/screwdriver
If plastic flowed into the plastic spot welds (2) during welding,

ream the plastic spot welds (2) with a drill bit with 3.5 mm diameter.
 
4.2 Remove screws from plastic spot welds (2). If armrest (1) has been screwed on.  
5 Remove screws (4a to 4j) in reverse alphanumeric order.    
6 Remove trim strip (9). Model 118

7 Remove screw/bolts (3).    
8 Remove armrest (1).    
9 Release driver's side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group (S20) and/or front passenger side power window switch (S21/2) and remove in upward direction. If armrest (1) will be replaced. AR72.29-P-0110MFA 
10 Remove inside door opener. If armrest (1) will be replaced. AR72.10-P-1400MFA 
11 Remove inside door handle. If armrest (1) will be replaced. AR72.10-P-3600MFA 
12 Remove beltline trim. If armrest (1) will be replaced. AR72.10-P-1036MFA 
INSTALLING Install     
13 Install beltline trim. If armrest (1) was replaced. AR72.10-P-1036MFA 
14 Install inside door handle. If armrest (1) was replaced. AR72.10-P-3600MFA 
15 Install inside door opener. If armrest (1) was replaced. AR72.10-P-1400MFA 
16 Install driver's side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group (S20) and/or front passenger side power window switch (S21/2) and lock. If armrest (1) was replaced. AR72.29-P-0110MFA 
17 Position armrest (1) at screw-on point (1s), manually slightly screw in with screw and slide in direction of rotation in door trim. IMPORTANT Ensure armrest (1) is correctly seated (A).  
18 Screw in screws (3).    
19 Install trim strip (9). Model 118

20 Slightly attach screws (4a to 4j) by hand and tighten in alphanumeric order.    
21 Install ambient lighting of armrest (1). Model 118, 177
with code 877 (Ambient lighting)
 
22 Screw armrest (1) onto plastic spot welds (2). IMPORTANT The number of screws required corresponds to the number of plastic spot welds drilled (2).  
23 Install front door trim.   AR72.10-P-6575MFA
