Remove/Install Front Door Inner Handle - AR72.10-P-3600MFA

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove armrest (5).   AR72.10-P-1035MFA 
2.1 Drill plastic spot welds (2). If the door handle (1) has been plastics welded.
NOTES
Observe drilling and cutting depth.
Otherwise the armrest (5) or door handle (1) can be damaged by drilling through.
IMPORTANT Operate cordless drill/driver with spot facer for cutting out plastic spot welds (2) at high drilling speed and low operating speed. Aim for an undercut of up to 2 mm in order to ensure sufficient preload.
Use spot facer, M4 according to DIN 373 with head diameter 8 mm and pin diameter 3.3 mm.
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Cordless drill/screwdriver
If plastic flowed into the plastic spot welds (2) during welding,

ream the plastic spot welds (2) with a drill bit with 3.5 mm diameter.
 
2.2 Remove screws from plastic spot welds (2). If the door handle (1) has been screwed on.  
3 Remove door handle (1).    
INSTALLING Install     
4 Place door handle (1) as shown on figure and carefully position on armrest (5). NOTES
Ensure that the contact surfaces (A) are correctly covered by the door handle (1) and that the armrest material does not get moved or kinked.
Otherwise, damage to the surface material will occur.
 
5 Screw the door handle (1) to the armrest (5) at the plastic spot welds (2). IMPORTANT The number of screws required corresponds to the number of plastic spot welds drilled (2).  
6 Install armrest (5).   AR72.10-P-1035MFA
