	Remove/install
1	Remove center rear spoiler.		AR72.20-P-4000ME
		Only install center rear spoiler after adjustment of tailgate (1).
2	Release and disconnect electrical connectors (2).	The number of electrical connectors (2) varies depending on the vehicle equipment.
3	Unscrews nuts of tailgate ground point (W8), left tailgate ground point (W8/1) and right tailgate ground point (W8/2).

4	Release electrical wiring harnesses (3) from the liftgate (1).	Do not crush, kink or subject electrical wiring harnesses (3) to tension. This will result in damage to electrical wiring harnesses (3) and can impair their function.
		The number and position of fastening points varies depending on the vehicle equipment.
		Replace damaged line attachments.

5	Guide electrical wiring harnesses (3) out of tailgate (1).	Observe routing and padding or electrical wiring harnesses (3). To prevent noise development during vehicle operation.
		Install electrical wiring harnesses (3) based on original routing.
6	Mechanically lock rotary tumbler at tailgate central locking motor (M14/7) using suitable means.	Otherwise, the liftgate (1) can no longer be opened when the electrical lines are disconnected.
		Before adjusting tailgate (1), rotary tumbler at tailgate central locking motor (M14/7) must be unlocked.
7	Place suitable rag on tailgate latch (4).	In order to prevent damage.
8	Remove pneumatic springs at tailgate (1).		AR72.20-P-2832ME
		Install pneumatic springs only after adjusting the liftgate (1). Because the liftgate (1) cannot be adjusted if the pneumatic springs are installed.
9	Carefully position tailgate (1) on tailgate latch (4)	Liftgate lock is locked
10	Unscrew screws (5), remove tailgate (1) ana set down on suitable base.	Helper required.
		Bolt, hinge to liftgate	*BA72.20-P-1005-02J
11	Remove all remaining detachable parts of tailgate (1).	If tailgate (1) is replaced.
12	Install in the reverse order.
	Adjust
13	Adjust tailgate (1).		AR72.20-P-0002ME
