| 2 | Release and disconnect electrical connectors (2). | ||
| 3 | Unscrews nuts of tailgate ground point (W8), left tailgate ground point (W8/1) and right tailgate ground point (W8/2). | ||

| 4 | Release electrical wiring harnesses (3) from the liftgate (1). | Do not crush, kink or subject electrical wiring harnesses (3) to tension. This will result in damage to electrical wiring harnesses (3) and can impair their function. |

| 5 | Guide electrical wiring harnesses (3) out of tailgate (1). | Observe routing and padding or electrical wiring harnesses (3). To prevent noise development during vehicle operation. |

| 6 | Mechanically lock rotary tumbler at tailgate central locking motor (M14/7) using suitable means. | ||
| 7 | Place suitable rag on tailgate latch (4). | ||
| 8 | Remove pneumatic springs at tailgate (1). | AR72.20-P-2832ME | |
Install pneumatic springs only after adjusting the liftgate (1). Because the liftgate (1) cannot be adjusted if the pneumatic springs are installed. |

| 9 | Carefully position tailgate (1) on tailgate latch (4) | ||
| 10 | Unscrew screws (5), remove tailgate (1) ana set down on suitable base. | ||

| 11 | Remove all remaining detachable parts of tailgate (1). | If tailgate (1) is replaced. | |
| 12 | Install in the reverse order. | ||
