Remove/Install Hydraulic Valve Clearance Compensating Elements - AR05.00-P-2011MFG

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove exhaust camshaft (4) and intake camshaft (5).   AR05.20-P-6992MFG 
2 Mark roller-type rocker arms (3) together with valve clearance compensating elements (1) in relation to cylinder head. NOTES If reusing roller-type rocker arms (3) and valve clearance compensating elements (1), install them in the original place.
Engine damage can occur otherwise.
 
3 Remove roller-type rocker arms (3) together with valve clearance compensating elements (1).    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Specified engine oils (service) - Overview INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Wet roller-type rocker arms (3) and valve clearance compensating elements (1) with engine oil.
Observe attached markings.

4 Remove clamps (2) by hand and remove valve clearance compensating elements (1) from roller-type rocker arms (3).    
5 Press valve clearance compensating elements (1) together by hand and check for proper operation. NOTES Only push valve clearance compensating elements (1) together by hand; do not use a steel tool.
The surface of the valve clearance compensating elements (1) will otherwise be damaged.
IMPORTANT It should not be possible to press the valve clearance compensating elements (1) together with normal force of the hand and they should move together only very slowly when great force is applied.
If a valve clearance compensating element (1) is defective:

Replace valve clearance compensating element (1).
If several valve clearance compensating elements (1) are defective:

check forced oil supply of cylinder head.

6 Install in the reverse order.
