Remove/Install Charge Air Distributor - AR09.41-P-8683MFG

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove the throttle valve actuator. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Only install upper engine cover after the leak test. AR07.51-P-1404MFG
2 Remove low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir.   AR20.30-P-4951MFG
3 Remove screws (2) and release cable duct (3). NOTES Do not kink, subject lines to tension.
Otherwise damage will occur.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION M6x1 *BA00.10-P-1002-04A 
4 Remove electrical wiring harness (19) from charge-air distributor (1). NOTES Do not kink, subject lines to tension.
Otherwise damage will occur.
 
5 Remove electrical wiring harness (7) from charge-air distributor (1). NOTES Do not kink, subject lines to tension.
Otherwise damage will occur.
 
6 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (8).    
7 Release and disconnect electrical connector (6).    
8 Remove screws (4) and remove bleed line (5). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace seals.
Check seals are correctly seated.
Do not coat connections with grease.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION M6x1 *BA00.10-P-1002-04A 
9 Seal opening at charge-air distributor (1) with a suitable stop plug and seal opening on the cylinder head cover with lint-free rag. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
10 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (11).    
11 Remove screw (9) and release purging switchover valve (Y58/1) from the charge-air distributor (1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION M6x1 *BA00.10-P-1002-04A 
12 Remove the bolt (10). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, charge air distributor to cylinder head/cylinder head cover *BA09.41-P-1002-01FA 
13 Remove purge line (12) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Make sure that the purge line (12) is routed correctly.

14 Remove the purge line (13) and the vacuum line (14) from the charge-air distributor (1) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Make sure that the purge line (13) is routed correctly.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Make sure that the vacuum line (14) is routed correctly.

15 Remove purge line (13) and vacuum line (14).    
16 Remove bleed line (17) from the charge-air distributor (1), place outside of the working area, and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Make sure that the bleed line (17) is routed correctly.

17 Release bleed line (15) from the charge-air distributor (1) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
18 Remove screws of charge-air distributor (1) in reverse order of tightening procedure. Loosen/tighten screws/bolts of charge-air distributor
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Observe tightening procedure for charge air distributor (1).

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, charge air distributor to cylinder head/cylinder head cover *BA09.41-P-1002-01FA 
19 Remove charge-air distributor (1) and seal openings with clean rags. NOTES Carefully pull charge-air distributor (1) out of the cylinder head.
Otherwise leaks and damage can occur.
 
20 Remove brackets (18). Only when replacing the charge air distributor (1).  
21 Remove pressure sensor downstream of the throttle valve (B28/7). Only when replacing the charge air distributor (1).  
22 Install in the reverse order.    
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
23 Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper leak tightness and leak tightness.    
24 Install upper engine cover.
